What Sets Us Apart
Haus of Devereaux
It all started with a dream. A dream that through hard work, resilience and determination came to fruition in 2018 and has continued on strongly ever since!
When E’Claire Devereaux's represented Canada at the Miss Continental Plus pageant in 2007, she promised herself that if she did well she would start a drag Haus to pass along all that she’s learned and to give back to the drag community that meant so much to her. E’Claire fared well in the competition and upon joining forces with Athena Vegas in 2018, the Haus of Devereaux family was born!
In the years that followed, performers including Carmen Del Rae, Jemm Doshay, Justine D’as and Queenie Zadhal would join the drag family as the show stopping Haus wowed audiences throughout Ontario. With its dedication to classic drag values with a modern twist, the Haus features two apprentices, Naomi Barz and the first ever drag king, Justin Cider who benefit from the immense combined family experience to help them quickly learn and grow. Making sure the family always dazzles is professional costume designer, Rita Benz whose decades of experience help everyone to look their best!
The Haus supports the community in many ways including raising funds for charities and leading story time programs at libraries throughout the region. The group has been featured in many news articles, films and podcasts and in 2023 received the prestigious President's award by the Imperial Court of Toronto for their continuing outstanding efforts to promote positive growth within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The group is generously recognized by the community annually through winning awards for entertainers of the years, most recently as Canadian Choice Award winners.
As a pageant drag family, members of the Haus compete annually in various competitions (highlighted in personal bios) and dedicate immense time and effort to evolving their craft. However, it’s not all tiaras and titles, the Haus of Devereaux also sells out theatres, restaurants and bars and has headlined Pride festivals for more than half a decade. With every member offering something unique, the Haus delivers a Broadway to Beyoncé experience like no one else can!
